Samaritans

I spent over five years working as a listening volunteer for Samaritans – responding to callers by phone, email and in person.

In addition to my work as a listening volunteer, I was also a trustee of the Southampton branch, and worked as a “day leader” which meant I provided a team leader role for the branch.

I also organised and ran training for new and experienced volunteers, both at Southampton and at neighbouring branches.

More info

Samaritans provides confidential emotional support, 24 hours a day for people who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those which may lead to suicide.

You don’t have to be suicidal to call. Samaritans are there if you’re worried about something, feel upset or confused, or you just want to talk to someone.
