I spent over five years working as a listening volunteer for Samaritans – responding to callers by phone, email and in person.<\/p>\n
In addition to my work as a listening volunteer, I was also a trustee of the Southampton branch<\/a>, and worked as a “day leader” which meant I provided a team leader role for the branch.<\/p>\n I also organised and ran training for new and experienced volunteers, both at Southampton and at neighbouring branches.<\/p>\n Samaritans provides confidential emotional support, 24 hours a day for people who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those which may lead to suicide.<\/p>\n You don’t have to be suicidal to call.
